Valentine’s Cthulhu

Will you be my Valentine, Cthulhu? Although he looks more Japanese than like a Valentine, he turned out what I had pictured in my mind.

I did make his wings out of a heart to add some Valentine to his look.

Next up is St. Paddy’s Cthuhulu which should be challenging since he is naturally green.

Hu Dat?

hudat

Here’s the latest Cthulhu creation. I have named him Hu Dat. He is decked out in New Orleans Saints colors and is wearing the number 7 in honor of long-time Saints kicker Morten Anderson. Here’s hoping the Saints win it all Sunday! Geaux Saints!

Fabric Bowl

Crocheting with fabric was very different but I loved the result. Cutting the strips and then joining them to make a ball took about an hour. If I do it again I will probably look into an easier method of cutting the strips. The pattern is from the very talented Crochet Dude. I can’t wait to give it another try once I find the right fabric.

Spongebob Squarepants

spongebob

I have a niece who loves Spongebob Squarepants and since I was making crochet toys for Christmas, I tackled Spongebob. My niece loved him. I tried making him more folk art-doll type than amigurumi. I might do another one as I work my way through all the characters since Spongebob was pretty easy. That is, if I can remember how I made him. This is why it’s so important to write down instructions.

Christmas Cthulhu

So I missed Thanksgiving but I did do a Christmas Cthulhu. My husband loves these so his reaction to them makes me want to create more. I did a Christmas one for his stocking. I added a scarf and hat to make him extra cute and Christmas-looking. Working on a few more themed Cthulhus that will be gifts. Once my friends have received them then I will post pictures.

Acorn Purse

For Christmas I made my niece a little acorn purse from the pattern at Roman Sock. I did the closing a little different since my top didn’t want to fit that well on it. I sewed it on about three-fourths of the way and then added one wooden bead to keep it closed. I love purses and can’t wait to try this one again for my daughter who loves to collect acorns.

Zero – Nightmare Before Chirstmas

zero

Ever since I started making amis I have been wanting to crochet Zero from the Nightmare Before Christmas. It’s one of my favorite movies and Zero is one of my favorite characters. I did a body even though I could have just attached the felt to the head since Zero really doesn’t have a body. I did a crochet body since I wanted to stitch the felt to something. This would also make it easier to display it. I made this one as a Christmas present but plan to do my own Zero real soon.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas! Here is a little reindeer(pattern free from Lion Brand) that I made for decoration. Surprisingly the little girl hasn’t claimed him as hers so for right now he gets to sit around. I may have to leave him out all year round because I think he is just adorable.

Gift Ideas for Crocheters

lions

Stuck on a gift idea for someone who crochets? Here are a few ideas of gifts that will be appreciated.

Stitch Markers – it doesn’t matter how many you have, it never seems to be enough.

Crochet hooks – a nice hand-carved hook makes a lovely gift that will be treasured.

Crochet hook holder – Great for travel and to keep those hooks organized at home

Gift cards to craft or yarn stores – There’s no better way to pass some time than in a craft/yarn store, especially when you have funds set aside just for that purpose.

Oversize handbags/totes – They make great places to stash yarn or crochet projects. Bags also make it super easy to carry your crochet on a trip.

Ami Horse

amihorse

The Christmas celebrations have begun so I can start sharing some of my latest crochet projects. Here is a cute little horse inspired by one that I saw on Ravelry. I didn’t want to follow the pattern because I get lost when following some patterns and find that I frog way less if I just wing it.

It turned out really cute. In fact I may have to make me one.
